I would like to say how fascinated I was, reading this latest, more comprehensive history of Windsor Pubs, made all the more interesting because my father was landlord of The Mitre for approx 12 years dating from the year 1950. The details in Tonyat33's description bought back memories of my youth and, at the age of 77, reminds me of the things we used to do. One particular paragraph caught my eye regarding having a drink on each of the hostelries as one year my friends and I decided to start at the bottom of Peascod Street and have a drink in each of the pubs as we made our way to the large fair held then every year at Agars Plough. (Whatever happened to that very enjoyable Fair?)
